The digital collection Prima guerra mondiale: Archivio fotografico [First World War: Photographic archive] has been created by the Archivio Centrale dello Stato (ACS), the Italian National Archives in Rome. The collection contains three digitized albums with some 900 photographs taken by Francesco Tamburini and Luigi Marzocchi during the First World War. The ACS acquired the collection in 1999. The collection contains also some 500 stereoscopic photographs. The photographs show the front between Italy and Austria. You can search the photographs by subject (soggetto), item (contenitore), locations (luoghi) and persons (persone); you can choose them using drop down lists. With Google Maps you can place photographs in their geographical space. There is also a timeline (date) which shows the number of photographs from a particular year. The website shows only one image of each stereographic photograph; after buying them you can see both of them online. This collection is only accessible in Italian.
